Xerox M24 Printer Review

The Xerox WorkCentre M24 is certainly a powerful multifunction color laser printer, but it is also pricey, which might be a big hurdle for some buyers to overcome. Its output speeds seem a little disappointing, at only 24 pages per minute in black and 13 pages per minute in color, but the relatively low cost of Xerox M24 printer toner supplies might make its drawbacks worth the tradeoff.

The M24 comes with print, copy, and scan functions in its standard configuration, but faxing is an optional upgrade, as well as LAN Faxing and Internet Faxing, which can help reduce long-distance charges and even use less WorkCentre M24 toner. The sharp print resolution of 1200 dpi produces excellent results, even in color, but copying and scanning are both limited to 600 dpi. This is enough for standard office documents, but a little lacking when it comes to photos.

Where the M24 really shines is in its upgrade options. It starts with a paper capacity of 620 sheets, but it can be upgraded to a maximum of 3,140 sheets for busy offices that go through a lot of volume. It also includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder, and optional finishing features can be added like stapling and sorting.

As with all laser models that handle color printing, replacing all four toners can be costly. The good news is that each color Xerox M24 toner cartridge offers a yield of around 15,000 pages, while the black supply offers around 27,000 pages. Combined with reasonable prices for WorkCentre M24 toner cartridges, this actually makes the cost per page one of the lowest in its class. This is especially true when using compatible Xerox M24 toner, which is less expensive than OEM supplies.

The M24 has so many solid features and functions in its arsenal, and its output quality is top notch. Print speeds are quite slow, however, which might become a nuisance in a fast-paced office environment.
