Xerox 3045 Printer Review
With the addition of copy, scan, and fax functions, the Xerox WorkCentre 3045 improves on its predecessor as a true multifunction laser printer. Its compact size makes it a good fit for home users with tight spaces, but it can still output up to 24 pages per minute. Affordable Xerox 3045 printer toner adds to its value as well.
The base model of the 3045 includes only a USB 2.0 port for connection to a computer, so it is limited to personal use. The 3045i model, however, also includes an ethernet port and Wi-Fi support, so it is easily shared. Those who want to use the machine mainly as a copier and fax machine will find the base model a good fit, however, and the front-mounted USB port even allows for standalone printing.
Another main benefit of the networked version, the 3045i, is that it comes with network scanning features. This allows users to send scanned documents to email addresses, save them to network folders, or even send them to an FTP server. With so many digital options available, this can also help reduce the usage of WorkCentre 3045 toner and paper, cutting operating costs.
Speaking of toners, replacement Xerox 3045 toner cartridges are some of the most affordable in its class. Each WorkCentre 3045 toner cartridge has an estimated yield of 1,000 pages, so users won't be changing them too frequently. Even the OEM versions of Xerox 3045 toner are priced competitively enough to be a good value.
The 3045 is a significant upgrade from the 3010 model, adding multifunction features like copying and faxing. It won't handle small offices with a lot of users, but its compact design and low price make it an excellent choice for the very small office. Those who wish to share it should consider upgrading to the 3045i model for its networking capabilities.
