Xerox 3260 Printer Review

The Xerox Phaser 3260 can handle printing, scanning, copying, and faxing as a multifunction laser model with quick output speeds of up to 29 pages per minute. It is also quick to respond, with a first page out time of 8.5 seconds, and wireless support makes it easy to share. Xerox 3260 printer toner supplies are expensive, but high-capacity versions reduce the cost per page a bit.

The 3260 comes in two model variations. The 3260/DI is the base model, with USB and Wi-Fi connections. The 3260/DNI adds wired ethernet as well, appealing to those with an existing wired network. Both come with a maximum resolution of 4800x600 dpi, which makes for sharp text and graphics, and features like Wi-Fi Direct printing for mobile phones and tablets help to make it easier to use.

The base model measures 8.4x14.5x13.2 inches, and it weighs just less than 17 pounds, even when the Phaser 3260 toner supply is installed. The main paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets, and is supplemented by a single-sheet bypass slot that accepts alternative media like transparencies and envelopes. In addition to Wi-Fi Direct, it also supports Apple AirPrint protocols, and Xerox's own PrintBack apps for mobile devices.

Both standard and high-capacity replacement toners are available. The standard Xerox 3260 toner cartridge has a yield of around 1,500 pages. The high-capacity Phaser 3260 toner cartridge can provide around 3,000 pages, and has the lower cost per page. Overall though, the cost of Xerox 3260 toner is fairly high in comparison to its competition.

The compact design and great feature set of the Xerox 3260 printer give it quite a bit of appeal, especially for home office users in tight spaces. Mobile printing and other wireless features are a nice bonus as well, but its high operating costs are its most disappointing aspect.
