Xerox 5875 Printer Review
As the middle model in a lineup of three, the Xerox WorkCentre 5875 multifunction laser printer inherits the best features of the 5865 model, but also adds faster speeds of up to 75 pages per minute, and a larger maximum duty cycle of 300,000 pages. Sadly, pricey Xerox 5875 printer toner makes it one of the most expensive in its class to operate.
Still, some office might find it worth the tradeoff for such a great bundle of features. The unit can print, scan, copy, and email, and faxing as an add-on option. iOS devices can print directly to the machine using AirPrint, and a large and colorful touchscreen interface makes it extremely easy to use. Smaller features like ID Card Copy can save a lot of time for repetitive tasks as well.
The one saving grace to counter expensive WorkCentre 5875 toner might be the numerous scanning workflows available, stretching the life of replacement toners a little further. A 200-sheet automatic document feeder is a great start, churning through even double-sided documents in a single pass, at up to 200 images per minute. Once documents are scanned, they can be sent to network locations, saved on the internal hard drive, or emailed to addresses both inside and outside the office, and favorite workflows can be saved for future recall.
The capacity of Xerox 5875 toner cartridges is quite large, at 55,000 to 65,000 pages, which usually translates to a low cost per page. WorkCentre 5875 toner cartridges are so expensive; however, that printing is still quite pricey.
For a busy, fast-paced office environment, the speed and output quality of the WorkCentre 5875 alone would seem to be worth its price tag. With the prospect of expensive Xerox 5875 toner throughout the lifetime of the machine, however, it could be a very costly long-term investment.
