Xerox 5550 Printer Review

The Xerox Phaser 5550 is a monochrome laser printer designed for high-volume printing needs. Its expandability makes it a good fit in medium or large offices. Multiple models are available. In addition to the 5550B base model, the 5550N adds networking, the 5550DN adds networking and automatic duplexing for two-sided printing, and the 5550DT adds all of the previous features plus an additional 1,000 sheets of paper capacity. Affordable Xerox 5550 toner prices makes replacing toners less of a strain on the budget.

The fast printing speed of 50 pages per minute shows that the 5550 means business, and upgrades to the input paper capacity are possible for the high-volume office that doesn't wish to reload often, up to a maximum of 4,100 sheets. All models can also have a 40 GB hard drive added as an upgrade for storing and accessing frequently needed documents. The network port can support up to Gigabit speeds and allows the printer to be easily connected and shared across a network of computers.

Printer toner costs are very affordable thanks to the low price of Phaser 5550 toner cartridges. Xerox 5550 toner cartridges have a large capacity of 35,000 pages ensuring that they won't need to be replaced often. OEM versions of Xerox 5550 toner are affordable enough that compatible versions are less necessary.

In their review of the Phaser 5550, Cnet liked its fast speeds, and found it faster than much of its competition. They disliked its somewhat limited capacity, though it can be easily upgraded for more capacity if needed. They found its upfront price to be somewhat high, but though it was a decent value overall.

Offices that need a high-volume printer should certainly be drawn to the very fast speeds of the 5550. Its expandability and the affordability of Phaser 5550 toner only help to add more value to an already solid package.
