Xerox 535 Printer Review
Even as the slowest member of its line, the Xerox Document Centre 535 multifunction laser printer has the speed to keep up with a busy office, at up to 35 pages per minute. It includes scanning, copying, and faxing with the option for internet faxing as well. Its design occupies a fairly compact footprint, and Xerox 535 printer toner is very affordable.
The standard input paper capacity of the 535 is 1,200 sheets, with a manual input tray that can hold 100 sheets, and is perfect for envelopes, transparencies, and other media. The maximum input capacity with upgrades is 4,800 sheets, but the upgrade options are a bit costly. Finishing options are available for stapling, folding, and more, and can save office users a lot of time by eliminating tedious manual tasks.
The control panel features a wide screen that is easy to read and to operate, but it is not full-color, which some users might lament. Large icons are included for each major function, making it easy to navigate, and users can easily monitor the level of Document Centre 535 toner as well as the print queue and any error messages with the press of only a few buttons.
Networking is easy to set up, and many of the functions take advantage of its networking abilities. Users can send scanned documents directly to an email address, for example, or send a fax right from their desktop without wasting paper or making an extra trip to the machine.
The low cost of toners helps to offset the high price of the device. Xerox 535 toner cartridges can provide up to 90,000 pages of output for each replacement package, which actually includes two Document Centre 535 toner cartridges in one box. This means even a maxed out machine could empty its entire paper supply over 18 times before replacements would need to be ordered.
The expensive price of the 535 might put it out of range of a lot of offices on a budget, but those who can afford it will appreciate its customization options, solid print speeds, and inexpensive Xerox 535 toner. With such a low cost per page, it is an excellent long-term value.
