Xerox 412 Printer Review

The Xerox WorkCentre Pro 412 shares many features with the WorkCentre line of office laser printers. Most have multiple functions, including this device which can print, scan, copy and fax. Though this is not the fastest machine on the market, it has the reliability that most users are looking for when they purchase a central printer for the work environment.

Because of the monochromatic nature of this unit, only one Xerox 412 toner cartridge is used. It holds only black printer toner. Even though it can only print and copy in black-and-white, the 412 offers color scanning and faxing. As many as 12 pages per minute can be printed or copied using the WorkCentre Pro 412 toner, which is a relatively efficient rate for a small office. A professional-quality resolution can be created with the Xerox 412 toner, which will add a smudge-free and crisp finish to each document that is produced.

The fax machine works with a transmission rate of 33.6 kbps and holds a 400-page fax memory. The scanner has an impressive internal color depth and the flatbed surface allows thicker documents to be scanned. The standard paper capacity is 550 sheets and there is a 100-sheet multimedia tray. This tray can hold different media types such as envelopes, labels and transparencies, all of which that can be printed on cleanly by the Xerox 412 toner.

What sets this unit apart from previous models is the ability to print and copy and produce faxes on both sides of the pages. The duplexer helps to reduce paper costs. Replacement WorkCentre Pro 412 toner cartridges are affordable as well, helping to limit the amount spend on maintenance over the life of the 412. Overall, this laser device will be a great fit in a small office with a variety of tasks but limited space.
