Xerox 3160 Printer Review

Small office users can get the performance they need from the Xerox Phaser 3160 without the large size normally associated with laser printers. It can print at speeds up to 24 pages per minute, and features enhanced image quality up to 1200 dpi resolution for excellent quality. The cost of printer toner is minimal just like its design, as Xerox 3160 toner is affordable. The 3160B is the base model with standard features, and the 3160N adds an ethernet port for simple networking setup.

When space is limited, good design is necessary to ensure that a machine can still provide fast speeds and solid output without being too bulky, and this is the main selling point of the 3160. It has a minimal chassis with no front or rear trays to add to its depth, and the paper output tray is located on top. The 250-sheet paper tray is somewhat of a tradeoff in this respect, but most users should find it sufficient, and there is a single-sheet bypass slot for loading envelopes and other alternate media.

Of course, toners are also an issue, but Xerox 3160 toner cartridges are quite affordable. The 2,500-page Phaser 3160 toner cartridges have ample supply for a small office user, and using compatible Phaser 3160 toner will trim costs down compared to OEMs.

PC World New Zealand gave the 3160 a 3.5 out of 5 stars rating, and liked its speed and print quality. They also found the cost of Xerox 3160 toner to be very reasonable, and the inclusion of energy-saving features to be cost-effective as well.

Overall, the 3160 is about as full-featured as a machine can get in such a small frame. It provides speed and quality with very few compromises, as long as users don't mind its somewhat small paper tray.
