Xerox 255 Printer Review
With some of the same speeds and upgrade options as the multifunction WorkCentre line, the Xerox CopyCentre 255 takes a simpler approach, as a single-function laser copier with a great feature set. It offers copy speeds of up to 55 pages per minute, with a first page out time of only 3.3 seconds. Best of all, the Xerox 255 printer toner shares the same design and affordability for the entire line, keeping prices low and availability high.
Xerox mentions that the 255 could work from anything from a small to medium office, but its large frame might be a bit much for tight spaces. Adding optional components like finishing and additional paper capacity will only increase its footprint, as well. The initial paper capacity includes two 550-sheet trays and a 100-sheet bypass tray, but options are available to boost it to a maximum of 4,800 sheets for fast-paced environments.
The simplicity of a dedicated copier means users don't have to worry about extra features like scanning and printing getting in the way. The large control panel benefits from this, with a streamlined interface that makes basic copy settings readily available, and more advanced features only a few button-presses away. An Internal Auditron feature can help managers track usage to help reduce the cost of paper and CopyCentre 255 toner.
Speaking of replacement toners, buyers will be pleasantly surprised at the low cost of Xerox 255 toner cartridges. The CopyCentre 255 toner cartridges offer a capacity of 45,000 pages each, and come in packages of two. This keeps the cost per page for Xerox 255 toner at around 1/10 of a penny.
With fast basic copying functionality and an excellent feature set, the CopyCentre 255 is an impressive device. If an office can afford its upfront price, they are likely to make it back in savings on operating costs over its lifetime.
