Xerox 245 Printer Review
Sandwiched between the similar 238 and 255 models, the Xerox CopyCentre 245 laser copier offers a middle range of speed, at 45 pages per minute. Since the three models all offer the same features with the only difference being their copy speeds, buyers can choose how important the speed is to their needs, as well as their budget. The affordability of Xerox 245 printer toner is another aspect they share, and one of the machine's best features.
The 245 is designed as a dedicated copier, without the printing and scanning features that can sometimes get in the way, though faxing is an optional feature. The design is large, but not overly bulky, and its footprint is generally not too imposing for a larger office space.
One of the improvements over the 238 model is a faster first page out time of only 3.3 seconds, which will help tasks get started quickly. It includes the same 75-sheet automatic document feeder as the other models, which is capable of duplexing for two-sided originals up to 11x17 inches in size. The maximum scanning speed can reach up to 55 images per minute for fast operation, and a flatbed platen is available for other types of media that won't work with the feeder.
There is no need for buyers to fear the high cost of toners, as Xerox 245 toner cartridges are some of the least expensive in its class. With a large capacity of 90,000 pages for a two-pack of CopyCentre 245 toner cartridges, users will be getting a cost per page of around 1/10 of a cent. Considering these are based on OEM prices for CopyCentre 245 toner, this is very impressive.
Fewer offices have a need for a dedicated copier, as many prefer multifunction devices. For those who do, however, they will benefit from the 245's speed, high-quality output, and the affordability of Xerox 245 toner.
