The Xerox DocuColor 242 is a big business color laser machine with a lot of power. Able to produce up to 200,000 pages every month, most large businesses will find that it suits their needs quite well. When printing with black Xerox 242 toner, speeds of 55 pages per minute can be reached, which is above and beyond a lot of the competition. When printing with color, 40 pages per minute can be produced. Those speeds will keep offices working efficiently. The footprint may be a little large for some offices though at 65.1x36.2x54 inches.

As far as paper handling goes, there is one 250- sheet bypass tray, two 500-sheet plain paper trays, one 870-sheet paper tray and one 1,140-sheet paper tray. The high capacity document feeder can hold 2,000 sheets of 8.5x11 inch paper. There are also many features for printing and copying that will be attractive to businesses too. Book copying, hole punching, stapling and booklet making can all be done with this efficient machine, and reduction and enlargement are available from 25% to 400%.

In order to create these prints, users will need to maintain four Xerox 242 toner cartridges. There are three color DocuColor 242 toner cartridges filled with cyan, magenta and yellow toners. The last is a black printer toner that yields 30,000 pages. The color Xerox 242 toner lasts about 34,000 pages before replacements are needed.

For those scanning black-and-white images, the laser unit has the ability to scan as many as 80 pages per minute. Color documents scan a little slower at 50 pages per minute, but these speeds will still be faster than most similar models out on the market today.

When printing and copying with DocuColor 242 toner, resolutions of 2400x2400 dpi can be reached easily. With resolutions like that, every document will look sharp, detailed and professional.
