It has a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 prints, which will be a good fit for small to mid-level offices. A large office with high-volume needs will probably require a more powerful unit. The 2218 can print, copy and scan with quality and efficiency, but it is designed for users looking for a reliable fax machine.

The copier can produce multiple copies from an original document with a resolution of 600x600 dpi using the black Xerox 2218 toner. The printing feature can reach a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, which provides crisp and professional results. The flatbed scanner can hold thicker documents and an interpolated resolution of 4800x4800 dpi can be produced by the 2218. The faxing resolution using the FaxCentre 2218 toner is an impressive 400x400 dpi, which is impressively high for faxes.

The single Xerox 2118 toner cartridge holds only black printer toner, qualifying this machine as monochromatic. The FaxCentre 2218 toner cartridges can produce up to 8,000 black-and-white prints before expiring and requiring a replacement. Replacement toners are readily available from various vendors, including the manufacturer.

The fax machine is Super G3 compatible and has a 33.6 kbps transmission rate. This will send or receive faxes in as little as 3 seconds.
