Troubleshooting FAQs
Q. I am having problems with my cartridge. Can you help?
A. Here are some tips about troubleshooting toner or inkjet cartridges.
Q. Why is my cartridge not recognized?
A. It is likely that the printer is still recognizing the previous cartridge. This can be fixed by unplugging your printer for 10 minutes, which will dump the printer''s memory and force it to do a complete initialization. For more information, see our blog article.
Q. Why did my cartridge run out of ink (or toner) so fast?
A. All of our remanufactured/compatible meet or exceed the pages provided by the OEM manufacturer. Page yield is based on 5% coverage; typically if you get a lower page yield it means that you were printing text, graphics or images with greater than 5% coverage on the page. Please see our blog article for details on how to calculate your "expected" page yield based on actual usage.
Q. Why are your yellow ink sticks a different color shade than Xerox brand ink sticks?
A. The manufacturing of our yellow sticks is slightly different but when you print with them they will have the same color on the printed page.
Q. What is difference between Ink and Toner?
A. Toner is a powder that is heated and transferred to paper and cools to create images; this is why the paper can be hot when it comes out of the printer. Ink is a liquid that is sprayed on the paper and dries to the paper. This is why the paper feels wet when you remove it from the printer. Ink cartridges are typically much smaller than toner cartridges. Click here for more info.
Q. What is the difference between OEM (brand name), compatible and remanufactured cartridges?
A. Compatible cartridges are made from brand new components and perform the same as name brand products. Remanufactured cartridges are refurbished brand name cartridges that have been inspected, repaired, cleaned and refilled. This allows us to sell the same quality product at a much lower price and keeps the old cartridges out of our landfills.
Q. How long will my cartridges last in storage?
A. Cartridges have a shelf life of 1-2 years if they are kept in a climate controlled environment and sealed in their packaging.
Q. Why is the Brother toner cartridge that you sent me so much smaller than my cartridge?
A. The toner cartridge is smaller and it set inside the imaging drum. When you remove the unit from the printer you are actually removing both the drum and toner cartridge together. After this is out of the machine you need to then separate the toner from the drum and replace the toner cartridge. For more information, please read our blog article or watch the video below:
