Sharp SF-8300 Printer Review
The Sharp SF-8300 is about as simple as it gets when it comes to dedicated laser copy machines, but it still offers adequate speeds of up to 21 pages per minute and a first copy speed of 6.5 seconds. It lacks the features of some more advanced devices, but the low cost of Sharp SF-8300 printer toner makes it worth a look for a simple, affordable copying solution.
The SF-8300 comes with the usual copy features most users will expect. It can make up to 99 copies from an original, and supports zooming from 50-200%, in 1% increments. It also incorporates a large 500-sheet drawer and a second 250-sheet drawer, so two sizes or types of media can be easily used at the same time. It also includes a 50-sheet bypass tray for alternative media types like envelopes or transparencies.
The SF-8300 doesn't support automatic duplexing in its basic configuration, but the option is available. Unfortunately, this is limited to 30 sheets at a time, as pages must be fed into the special duplex tray. This is a clunky solution, but it could work in a small office with low volumes. An automatic document feeder can be added to expand from its flatbed scanning surface to continuous feeding of up to 50 sheets at once.
Inexpensive Sharp SF-8300 toner cartridges will be a welcome change for those used to spending too much on replacement toners. Not only are the Sharp SF-8300 toner cartridges very affordably priced, but their 6,000-page estimated yield means they will last a long time, even under heavy use.
For basic copying, it is hard to beat the low price and easy control features of the SF-8300. Some buyers might prefer a machine that can also print, scan, and possibly fax, but the low cost of Sharp SF-8300 toner certainly makes a dedicated copier sound a bit more appealing.
