As the fastest of the three models in its lineup, the Sharp MX-7000N multifunction color laser printer can output up to 70 pages per minute, though its color output is limited to around 41 pages per minute. The sheer number of features and upgrades available is impressive, but the cost of Sharp MX-7000N printer toner is disappointingly high.

The MX-7000 is built for a high-volume office environment, as it includes a standard paper capacity of 3,100 sheets. This is far from its maximum, however, with the ability to be upgraded to 6,600 sheets of input paper capacity. It can also be expanded for optional finishing, hole-punching, and more.

The standard included features are network printing, network scanning, and copying. Faxing is available as an optional upgrade, and the unit also includes an internal hard drive, allowing it to act as a document server for easy access from the office network.

Users will have no trouble getting digital documents into the machine, as it comes with a 150-sheet automatic document feeder that can even handle two-sided sheets in a single pass. Once scanned and saved, documents can be stored on the internal hard drive, sent to a network folder, or emailed as an attachment, which makes a great alternative to faxing that can also conserve paper and Sharp MX-7000N toner supplies.

Unfortunately, replacement toners are one aspect where the MX-7000N disappoints. Sharp MX-7000N toner cartridges have large capacities, but their high prices reduce its value somewhat. Each color Sharp MX-7000N toner cartridge has an estimated yield of 31,000 pages, but replacing all three is an expensive prospect. The black supply has a yield of 49,000 pages.

With fast printing and scanning speeds, the Sharp MX-7000N is poised to be the central hub of a busy office. Expandability leaves a lot of room to grow, but buyers should calculate their expected operating costs before taking the leap.
