Sharp FO-6500 Printer Review
The Sharp FO-6500 laser fax machine is mainly an upgraded version of the FO-5500 model, but the added paper capacity may come in handy for buyers who plan to do a lot of faxing on a daily basis. It has the added benefit of Super G3 speeds for fast sending and receiving, and like previous models, toners are extremely affordable, making for a low cost per page.
The FO-6500 comes with both a flatbed scanning platen and a 50-sheet document feeder, which gives users the flexibility of fast scanning and the ability to scan irregular items such as books. As mentioned, the unit has an upgraded paper capacity compared to other models in its line, with an extra 500-sheet tray added to the standard 650-sheet tray. The automatic feeding tray can handle paper sizes of 11x14.3 inches, and the manual feed can handle up to 11x17 inches.
Even with the extra tray, the machine's footprint is compact enough even for home use measuring just 27.2x23.4 inches, though the output paper tray does stick out a bit further when open. Weighing a little less than 50 pounds, even with the Sharp FO-6500 printer toner installed, it will be fairly easy to set up or even move around with a little help.
Replacing Sharp FO-6500 toner cartridges is simple enough, and affordable, too. Each Sharp FO-6500 toner cartridge can supply up to 5,500 pages, so the cost per page is a fraction of a cent. Third-party sellers offer compatible Sharp FO-6500 toner as well, for even lower prices.
The Sharp FO-6500 is a nice upgrade from its smaller-capacity brothers, but buyers who don't need the extra paper capacity would do well to save the extra money. Given that the extra tray can be added to any model, there is always room for expansion in the future.
