There is also an option for an optional 5 GB hard drive that can help it manage larger files without slowdowns.

Although its operation is fairly simple, there are a few nice extras like a print hold function that can hold a job until a user presses a button or enters a code. This keeps confidential documents from sitting in the output tray. There is also a Toner Save mode that can be enabled to reduce the amount of Sharp AR-P450 printer toner used for each page, with only a slight difference in output quality, which is a good compromise for cost-effective operation.

Of course, the low cost of replacement toners already makes for cost-effective operation. Buyers who want to save a bit more can shop for compatible Sharp AR-P450 toner cartridges at lower prices than the OEM versions.

The only major limitation of the Sharp AR-P450 is its 600 dpi output, but its speed and affordability tend to trump this minor drawback, and text is still very sharp. For affordable network printing, it is tough to beat.
