Sharp AR-M258 Printer Review
As the slower of two models in its line, the Sharp AR-M258 multifunction laser copier has a speed of only 25 copies per minute, but its first page out time of 4.8 seconds is still quite fast. Basic printing is included, but faxing and network printing and scanning can be added as upgrades. Paper handling is also quite upgradeable, and Sharp AR-M258 printer toner is affordably to replace.
One upgrade that is very worth considering is the optional reversing single pass feeder, for quick scanning of up to 100 pages, with support for scanning two-sided originals in one pass. The unit can even store up to 2,970 pages in memory, then print them all in a single run. Multiple scan destinations such as email and FTP make it easy to share digital documents as well, right from the control panel.
Upgrade options are plentiful. The standard input paper capacity starts at 1,100 sheets, with additional upgrades of two 500-sheet drawers possible, raising it to a maximum of 2,100 sheets. An Auto Tray Switching function automatically changes to another paper tray when one is empty. Multiple finishing options are also available as upgrades, such as a Punch Module and Saddle Stitch Finisher.
If there is one aspect that makes the AR-M258 worth a look, it is its low cost of operation, thanks to inexpensive replacement toners. The single Sharp AR-M258 toner cartridge has an impressive capacity of 25,000 pages, but a surprisingly low price. Best of all, compatible Sharp AR-M258 toner cartridges are available from third-party sellers for even less than OEM prices.
Though it won't compete with the fastest models in its class on speed, the AR-M258 still has a lot to offer. With numerous upgrade options for customization and low-cost Sharp AR-M258 toner supplies, the unit is worth a look for the buyer who values cost-effective operation.
