Sharp AR-M237 Printer Review
While the Sharp AR-M237 is only equipped for printing and copying in its base configuration, this multifunction laser printer can be easily upgraded to support network scanning, network printing, and faxing. Maximum print and copy speeds of 23 pages per minute are a bit disappointing, but the low cost per page of Sharp AR-M237 toner could make it worth the trade for buyers on a budget.
The AR-M237 is designed to be user-friendly, and its large touchscreen interface certainly succeeds. It isn't as impressive as models with full-color displays, but it gets the job done. Users can access different functions with dedicated buttons right on the control panel and the machine can even tap into an office's LDAP address book for addresses and destinations.
Speaking of destinations, when the network scanning upgrade is configured, users have the option of scanning documents and sharing them to a desktop, to email addresses, or even as a web URL. This last option makes it easy to share large files or sharing with large groups of people at once.
The input paper capacity consists of two 500-sheet drawers and an extra bypass paper tray that can hold 100 sheets. Buyers can upgrade with an extra 500-sheet or 1,000-sheet tray, for a maximum of 2,100 sheets of input at once.
If low printer toner costs are a priority, the inexpensive price of Sharp AR-M237 toner will be very appealing. Toners are easy to replace, and each Sharp AR-M237 toner cartridge has an average page yield of around 25,000 pages. Best of all, compatible Sharp AR-M237 toner cartridges are available from third-party vendors at even lower prices.
The Sharp AR-M237 would be an excellent choice as a simple printer and copier, but its expansion options are too good to pass up. It is a better fit for the smaller office planning to grow and expand while increasing productivity.
