Sharp AR-235 Printer Review
The Sharp AR-235 is quite a versatile multifunction laser copier, with the ability to print, scan, and fax, depending on how it is configured. Speeds reach up to 23 pages per minute, and a 1200 dpi resolution offers sharp images and text. The biggest draw is the cost-effective Sharp AR-235 printer toner, however.
Paper handling is a strong point, with two 500-sheet trays as a standard feature, and upgrades available for up to 2,100 sheets of maximum input capacity. Automatic duplexing is included as a standard feature as well, though users will have to add an optional 30-sheet reversing paper feeder for quick scanning and copying of two-sided documents. Both the ADF and the flatbed scanner can handle originals up to 11x17 inches in size.
Even with all of these features, the base unit isn't overly bulky. It measures 25.5x24.5x23 inches in size, and weighs around 92 pounds, including the Sharp AR-235 toner supplies. Its warm-up time of 40 seconds is reasonable, and the first copy out time of 4.8 seconds is quite fast. With a 1200 dpi Super Photo Mode, images and graphics come out very sharp and detailed.
The low cost of toners may just be this unit's most appealing feature. Sharp AR-235 toner cartridges have a large capacity of around 25,000 pages each, so they won't need replacing often even in a high-volume environment. Even so, the Sharp AR-235 toner cartridges are some of the most affordable in its class, and compatible supplies are available at even lower prices.
With so much upgradeability, the Sharp AR-235 can meet the needs of users in a variety of different office environments. Starting out with decent speeds and a fast response, the machine is ready to grow and expand for the future, and inexpensive supplies will help buyers save on operating costs.
