Sharp AR-201 Printer Review
As a laser copier, printer, and fax machine in one, the Sharp AR-201 is an impressive combination at a fairly low price. Optional network sharing is available as an upgrade, and speeds can reach up to 20 pages per minute. Saving on Sharp AR-201 printer toner might just be its most appealing feature, though, especially for tight budgets.
The AR-201 comes with some great features even in its standard configuration. It includes a 30-sheet automatic document feeder for quick copying of multiple pages at once, and it can make up to 99 copies from a single original. It can even handle sizes up to 11x17 inches for both input and output, despite its compact frame.
With a footprint of 23.3x21 inches, it won't take up a lot of space, though its weight of 69.9 pounds makes it a little tough to move around without help. It comes with two paper trays that can hold up to 250 sheets each, and a manual feed tray can hold an additional 100 sheets of specialty media, without users having to empty one of the main trays. An optional 500-sheet tray can boost capacity to 1,100 pages without expanding its footprint.
When replacement toners are needed, users can choose compatible Sharp AR-201 toner cartridges at lower prices than brand name supplies. Either way, the Sharp AR-201 toner cartridges are rated for around 16,000 pages each, so replacements will be few and far between in a small office environment.
For a small office that doesn't intend to stay that way, the expansion options of the AR-201 will be particularly appealing, without buyers having to sacrifice features now. With solid speeds, a good starting paper capacity, and affordable Sharp AR-201 toner, it is a great value at its low price.
