Sharp AL-1351 Printer Review
With a compact design, the Sharp AL-1351 is a great multifunction laser copier and printer for a small office or even for a home. Its copy speeds of 13 pages per minute aren't overly quick, but the combination of affordable Sharp AL-1351 toner and a low purchase price make it a solid value. Its main drawback is a small paper capacity.
The design of the AL-1351 may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it gets the job done adequately. It includes a flatbed scanner at the top of the machine, and it can scan a maximum of 10x14-inch originals at 400 dpi resolution. Output can reach a maximum of 600 dpi, however, when copying or printing. This gives a sharp result for text and graphics, though it may struggle a bit with photos.
The unit itself measures 11.5x20.4x17.5 inches, with a weight of just less than 40 pounds, even with the Sharp AL-1351 printer toner supply included. This makes it a good fit for a desktop surface. The machine includes a single-sheet bypass tray, but the single 250-sheet main paper tray might be a little small for some buyers, so it is best suited to low-volume use.
The OEM prices for Sharp AL-1351 toner cartridges can be a bit high, but third-party sellers offer compatible supplies for around half the price. The high-capacity versions of Sharp AL-1351 toner cartridges offer the best bargain, with a yield of around 6,000 pages that makes them very cost-effective.
The basic design of the AL-1351 might be a bit too sparse for some buyers. Those with limited needs, however, may find its low price and affordable toners worth the trade off of a few missing features. Its speed and paper capacity make it a good fit for light-duty small offices.
