Samsung SL-M2880FW Printer Review
The Samsung Xpress M2880FW is a multifunction version of the popular M2825 model, adding scanning, copying, and faxing capabilities. It still offers similar print speeds of up to 29 pages per minute, and also adds features like mobile printing and near-field communications support. Xpress M2880FW printer toner supplies are available in multiple capacities, and eco-friendly features abound to help users trim down their operating costs.
The M2880FW offers a full complement of connection options, including USB, ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and even NFC. The latter allows those with supported devices to simply touch the device to the printer to begin a new printing job. Automatic duplexing is built in, and support for mobile printing services like Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint is also included. Samsung also offers a Mobile Print App, with even more features.
The M2880 measures 14.4x15.8x14.3 inches, which could be a little large for sharing a desk with, but it weighs only 24.5 pounds, even with the Samsung M2880FW toner and drum unit installed, so it is easy to move. The input paper capacity is limited, at only 150 sheets, but it supports media up to 8.5x14 inches in size. The automatic document feeder helps with fast scanning of up to 40 sheets at a time.
Affordable toners are essential to a cost-effective machine, and Samsung M2880FW toner cartridges are reasonably priced. In addition to the standard supplies, which have a yield of around 1,200 pages, users can purchase high-capacity Xpress M2880FW toner cartridges for a bit more, which can last for around 3,000 pages. Compatible Samsung M2880FW toner is also available for lower prices than OEM supplies.
The M2880FW costs a bit more than some competing models in its class, but for the extra price, buyers get a bit more speed. Its output quality is very sharp and extra like mobile printing and NFC may appeal to certain users as well.
