Samsung SF-560 Printer Review
The Samsung SF-560 is a laser fax machine and copier designed for the small to medium office environment. It has everything you need in a fax, and high paper capacity means users will reload less often. For an all in one, check out the Samsung SCX-4200 that features Samsung SCX-D4200A toner.
The SF-560 is built for speed and simplicity. It can copy at around 17 copies per minute, and its super G3 speeds mean it can transmit a fax in about 3 seconds. The unit features one-touch dialing of 20 different numbers, and can store 80 numbers in its speed dial memory, so you will never have to remember a number when faxing. One feature that will likely prove particularly useful is the SF-560's battery backup. If the power goes out, the unit is capable of receiving and storing incoming faxes for up to 96 hours. With the battery backup option, you will not miss a fax, even during a power outage.
The SF-560 can also save on toner and power costs. With the included TonerSave option, the machine will go into toner saving mode, using less toner per page. This mode can save up to 40% less ink, with only a small difference in quality. Energy star compliance ensures that the SF-560 is using power efficiently and saving energy costs. To save even more on every print, look into a unit that uses inexpensive Dell 310-6640 toner.
The machine features a number of copy features. Copies can be resized or zoomed from 50-150%. It is possible to copy a legal size document as well as smaller sizes. And up to 99 copies can be made at once. Copies can be made automatically from the 20 sheet automatic document feeder.
The one downside of the machine is the inclusion of a 1000 page starter cartridge. This cartridge is only a third of the capacity of the 3000 page standard cartridge, which means it will need to be replaced fairly soon after purchase. For color abilities, the Lexmark C522 may be a better choice, using Lexmark C5240CH toner.
Overall, the Samsung SF-560 is a well-designed and impressive fax machine and copier. The only question is whether to spend a little more for a machine with more functionality. For those who need a dedicated fax and copier, however, they will be very happy with the SF-560.
