Samsung ML-1750 Printer Review
The Samsung ML-1750 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. It features decent printing speeds, a compact frame, and affordable toner.
The ML-1750 is ultra-compact, with a very small footprint that will allow it to fit on most desk surfaces. In fact, it is about the size of a large inkjet printer. Connection options parallel port and USB 2.0. The ML-1750 would function well as a shared network printer with the use of either a print server or a host computer, but only with a small number of users. Its 166 MHz processor and 8 MB of memory give it some processing power, allowing it to handle even some graphics-heavy documents without slowing down. Unfortunately, the memory is not upgradeable.
Paper capacity is quite good. It can hold 250 sheets in its single standard tray. A single-sheet manual slot is available for alternate media types and sizes, but no multipurpose tray. The output tray only holds 50 sheets, so users who routinely print more than 50 sheets at a time will want to consider how inconvenient this might be. For most users, this should suffice.
Samsung ML-1750 toner cartridges are very affordably-priced, resulting in a low cost per page. Using a third-party compatible Samsung toner cartridge instead of the more expensive branded Samsung ML-1750 toner cartridges will reduce costs even further. The printer also has a Toner Save feature, which helps conserve ink with only a very slight reduction in print quality.
Print quality is a mixed bag. Text is the standout, with sharp and detailed characters, even at small font sizes. Text still looks sharp in Toner Save mode, just slightly lighter. Graphics quality is below average but print speed is fast, at around 16 pages per minute.
Overall, the Samsung ML-1750 is a very compact, affordable, and fast printer that will suit the home or small office user well.
