Samsung ML-1210 Printer Review
The Samsung ML-1210 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. It has solid printing speeds and excellent text quality, and toner costs are very economical.
The ML-1210 is a fairly compact printer, like the HP 1020 toner printer, measuring 9.1 inches by 13 inches by 14 inches, and weighing 13.4 pounds. In a very nice design aspect, users can choose to use one of two output trays. One is located in the front of the unit, and the other on the top. This allows it to fit more easily into tight spaces and allows the user some flexibility. The printer has both USB and parallel connections, but does not include a built-in ethernet port for networking. Networking is possible with the use of a print server or host computer, however.
Its paper capacity is a somewhat limited, even for a personal laser. It holds 150 sheets in its main tray, and has a single-sheet manual input tray for alternate media. Many sizes and types of media are supported, including labels, envelopes, transparencies, and the printer has a feature for printing posters by combining multiple pages into one large image.
Samsung ML-1210 toner cartridges have a capacity of 2,500 pages, so personal users won't have to change the Samsung toner cartridge very often. The Samsung ML-1210 toner cartridge is easy to access and replace. The printer also has a TonerSave mode, which reduces the amount of toner used per page, saving on toner costs.
Print speed is solid, especially for the price, at around 12 pages per minute. Print quality is excellent. Text is sharp and detailed, with readable text even at small font sizes. Graphics quality is a little below average, but decent for the price.
Overall, the Samsung ML-1210 is a good printer suitable as a personal laser, with good speeds and excellent text quality. Its limited paper capacity makes it a poor choice for sharing among multiple users, but single users will find it fits the bill.
