The Ricoh Aficio SP C240 multifunction color laser printer is somewhat of a conundrum. It may not have the performance a large office requires, as it can only print up to 16 pages per minute. On the other hand, its bulky frame is likely a little too large for smaller offices, and Ricoh SP C240 printer toner supplies may be a little too pricey for a small budget.

The SP C240 is also referred to as the SP C240SF for its scanning and faxing capabilities, which round out the printing and copying functions nicely. Faxing features include Super G3 transmission speeds and 200 speed dials, as well as PC and Internet faxing to save on long-distance costs. Scanning benefits from a 35-sheet automatic document feeder for faster processing, but a flatbed scanning surface is also included.

An ethernet port is included for sharing, and users have a lot of ways to get images and documents in and out of the machine. A front USB port lets users plug a flash drive into it directly, then save their scans or print directly from the flash memory. Scans can also be saved to a network folder or a desktop computer on the network.

Replacing all four toners can be an expensive proposition, as Ricoh SP C240 toner cartridges are a little pricey. Each color of Aficio SP C240 toner cartridges can provide around 2,000 pages, but this still doesn't make up for the replacement cost. Buyers looking for a very compact machine for a tight office space will generally find the SP C240 a little too bulky, and its speed is somewhat lacking as well. Combined with the high cost of Ricoh SP C240 toner, it is less appealing than many competing models in its class.
