Ricoh FX200 Printer Review
The Ricoh Aficio FX200 laser printer is designed for the home or small office user. It features a wide range of features that are often upgrades in other models, such as the HP M2727 toner printer, and its high-quality printing and fast speeds are impressive.
With the Ricoh FX200 laser printer, the company takes a slightly different path than many competing units. Instead of making a basic model and offering extra features as upgrades, this machine includes them all as standard features, making it a high-powered unit right out of the box. It can print, scan, copy, and fax.
It has an automatic document feeder for quickly scanning multiple pages for copying, faxing, or scanning, and also has a flatbed scanning surface for documents that can't be fed. It has a front-mounted USB port for scanning directly to a USB thumb drive, a very convenient feature. The unit supports color scanning, even though the printer is monochrome only. For color printing, check out the Xerox 6300 toner printer.
Paper capacity is 350 sheets, divided between a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. It can also be expanded to support up to 550 sheets of input paper capacity.
Ricoh FX200 toner cartridges have a capacity of 5,000 pages for each black laser toner cartridge. Using third-party compatible cartridges will greatly reduce the cost of each printer toner cartridge. Aficio FX200 toner cartridges are very easy to access and replace from the front of the unit.
Print speed is quite good for the price, at 20 pages per minute. Copies print at the same speed, minus scanning time. When copying, the original is scanned only once, saving time and moving parts. Print quality is very good. Text is sharp and detailed, and graphics quality is about average for a laser.
Overall, the Ricoh FX200 is a robust solution for a small office that should fit nearly any need. For smaller volumes, making take a look at the HP 1200 toner printer.
