Ricoh AC205 Printer Review
The Ricoh AC205 laser printer is a multifunction machine designed for the small or medium office environment. It has all the productivity functions a user would need, and even a few bonuses like ID copying and a USB port for thumb drives. This unit can compete with more well known competition, such as the Brother MFC-7340 toner printer.
The Ricoh AC205 laser printer can print, scan, copy, and fax. Despite supporting only monochrome printing, the scanner is capable of full-color scanning, though it can also do grayscale or monochrome scans. The unit has both a flatbed scanning platen and a 50-sheet automatic document feeder, similar to the one found no the HP P2015 toner printer, so it can scan multiple pages very quickly, but still has the ability to scan books and other large media.
It is also a very full-featured fax machine. It supports Super G3 speeds of up to 33.6 kbps, but can also slow down transmission speed to accommodate slower machines. The unit can store up to 320 pages in its memory, which keeps users from losing incoming faxes if it runs out of paper. The memory can store up to 40 quick dial numbers and up to 200 group dial numbers for quick access. As a copier, it can make up to 22 copies per minute, and has a first copy time of 10 seconds from the flatbed surface, and 15 seconds from the automatic document scanner.
Ricoh AC205 toner cartridges have a capacity of 5,000 pages, and it uses a single black laser toner cartridge. The laser printer toner cartridge is easy to access and replace, and very affordably-priced, resulting in a low cost per page.
Print speed is very fast, at up to 22 pages per minute. Text is very sharp and defined, and readable at even small font sizes. Graphics quality is average for a laser printer.
Overall, the Ricoh AC205 manages to fit nearly every function an office user would need into an affordable and compact package. Its fast speeds and excellent print quality make it a great choice.
