Although the Okidata MC351 is marketed as a desktop color laser class printer, its large frame would be a little difficult to share a desk with. Still, it uses efficient LED printing technology and fast speeds of up to 24 pages per minute. The main drawback is the high cost of Oki MC351 printer toner supplies.

This is not to say that the MC351 is overly bulky for its class. In fact, it is quite compact for a multifunction device with so many great features, including copying and scanning. The 50-sheet automatic document feeder can speed up scanning functions, and its reversing capability allows it to handle two-sided sheets quickly and efficiently. It is also often referred to as the MC351dn due to its duplexing and networking features.

Despite expensive toners, the machine has a number of features that can save money. Duplex printing can reduce the amount of paper used each month, and an Eco mode is designed to reduce power usage as well as conserve Okidata MC351 toner supplies, perfect for basic day-to-day printing. The included PaperPort and OmniPage software can help manage digital documents as well, to cut down on printing needs and make the transition to paperless workflows, even in a small office.

Okidata MC351 toner cartridges have fairly large page yields, at up to 3,500 pages for black and 3,000 pages for each color. The price of replacing all four Oki MC351 toner cartridges could mean serious sticker shock for small offices and small budgets, however.

Buyers will get a lot for their money with the Oki MC351, and its ability to handle printing, copying, and scanning with excellent color print quality is impressive at such a low price. Users should carefully consider whether its color capabilities are worth the high supply costs, however, or whether an equivalent monochrome device might be a better fit for their needs.
