Okidata MB451w Printer Review
With both wired and wireless support built right in, the Okidata MB451w multifunction laser printer is ready for just about any small office configuration. It can print and copy at up to 30 pages per minute, and its control panel is easy to use. Some offices might find its frame a little larger than expected, however, and the cost per page for Oki MB451w printer toner could be a little better.
The MB451w is sometimes referenced as the MB451 or MB451w MFP, but they all refer to the same model. The design is fairly compact - measuring 17.9x16.8x16.7 inches, but those who intend to share a desk with it might find it a little overbearing. Its weight of 44 pounds without the Okidata MB451w toner installed is fairly manageable, allowing for easy setup with a little assistance. The 3.5-inch display is a bit small, but does a good job of relaying important information, and the 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder provides fast scanning and copying of multi-page documents.
The MB451w covers all four major features: printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Users have the option of connecting it to a wired network with the ethernet port, or connecting it to a wireless network for even easier sharing. The Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) feature even allows it to be added to a wireless network with the push of a few buttons.
The cost of replacement toners could really add up, however, which is one of the device's few weaknesses. Okidata MB451w toner cartridges have a fairly small yield of 1,500 pages. Given the purchase price of Oki MB451w toner cartridges, the cost per page is a little high compared to some of the competition.
For buyers who want the major office functions in a single device that isn't overly bulky, the Okidata MB451w could be a great choice. It's wireless support, quick speeds, and excellent document feeder make it a good value, but watch out for high running costs, and buyers should make sure it will fit their available space.
