Okidata C6050 Printer Review

The Okidata C6050 color laser printer is designed for the small office environment. Its excellent color quality, combined with an affordable price and compact design, make it a solid choice for a small office that needs color printing capabilities. A similar model but at a slightly cheaper price point is the Oki C5500 toner printer.

The Oki C6050 color laser printer comes in three flavors. The C6050 is the standard model, the C6050n model adds networking capabilities, and the C6050dn model adds both networking and automatic duplexing, or two-sided printing. Most office environments will want to opt for the built-in networking option, as it allows the unit to connect directly to the network for sharing. Whether duplexing is a necessary option will depend on the office, but it can be a very economical option, as enabling the duplexing feature will reduce paper consumption in the office.

Paper capacity is 400 sheets, divided among a 300-sheet standard paper tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. Adding an optional 530-sheet tray will bump the paper capacity to a maximum of 930 sheets, which should be enough to handle even the busiest office environments.

Okidata C6050 toner cartridges are arranged into three color cartridges and one black cartridge. Each color toner cartridge has a capacity of 4,000 pages, while the black printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 5,000 pages. Although the color cartridges add to the cost of consumables, it is still very economical in toner usage and costs.

Print quality is excellent across the board. Color quality is impressive, near the quality of photo inkjet printers. Text is sharp and defined, with smooth, readable text even at small font sizes, with no missing lines or gaps apparent. Print speed is 26 pages per minute for black and 22 pages per minute for color.

Overall, the Oki C6050 will make an excellent choice for the small office that needs color printing. Its fast speeds and affordable price are just icing on the cake.
