However, for this inexpensive price, quality for text and graphic documents is low and printing speed is slightly below average. For a consumer looking at simple, low-volume output machines, the Z735 is a good purchase.

One interesting feature is the setup of the Lexmark Z735 ink cartridges. Rather than the more modern 4 or 5-color printer ink systems, Lexmark Z735 ink has a 3-color system. Colors cyan, magenta and yellow are included in a single Lexmark Z735 ink cartridge. No black printer ink tank is included, but is instead made by mixing the other three colors together. Having only one cartridge of Lexmark Z735 ink makes setup easy and quick, although black text was tested to not appear as clear and readable.
