The Lexmark Z35 is a color inkjet printer designed for the home user who does low-volume printing. Its very affordable price and compact size will appeal to users with a small budget and small spaces. Print speeds are a bit slow, at up to 11 pages per minute for black and 6 pages per minute for color. Lexmark Z35 ink costs are fairly high, resulting in a higher cost of ownership than competing models.

The maximum printing resolution is 2400 dpi, which gives very good results, but print speed is significantly slower when using the high quality setting. In fact, even printing graphics prints can slow speeds down to less than 1 page per minute, so users shouldn't expect a lot of speed. The single color Lexmark Z35 inkjet cartridge contains all three of cyan, magenta, and yellow ink in one cartridge, so replacing an individual color is impossible. This makes the cost per page for Lexmark Z35 ink cartridges much higher, due to wasted ink.

The printer supports a wide range of operating systems, including all modern version of Windows, Mac OS 8.6 or later, and even supports many distributions of Linux.
