Every office needs a reliable printer. The Lexmark X490 is a large machine that has the ability to handle demanding print jobs as well as copying, scanning and faxing needs. Though it does take up a lot of space with its frame of 45x26x32 inches, ultimately it will save space by eliminating the need for multiple devices. The X490 weighs about 137 pounds, so it will take a team to install it, but once it is in the office it will increase the efficiency and productivity almost immediately.

The EnergyStar qualification means it has been tested and approved as an environmentally friendly laser printer, and the ethernet connection provides networking capability that allows the X940 to be shared in a work environment. There is also a USB port for single-PC wired connectivity. With the 1.25 MHz processor, up to 40 pages per minute can be produced using only black Lexmark X490 toner and 30 pages per minute can be printed in color.

There are four Lexmark X940 toner cartridges that contain yellow, cyan, magenta and black printer toner. Magenta is a fancy name for pink and cyan is otherwise known as blue. Each of the color toners can last for as many as 22,000 prints while the black Lexmark X940 toner cartridge has a maximum yield of 36,000 pages. Replacement printer toner can be purchased from Lexmark or from third party vendors online.

Using the Lexmark X490 toner, this color laser printer can produce a maximum resolution of 2400x2400 dpi, which will provide vibrant and professional prints. The copier works at the same fast pace as the printer and the fax machine sends and receives documents in less than 3 seconds due to the 33.6 kbps transmission speed. The flatbed scanner reaches resolutions of 600x600 dpi. With multiple OS compatibility, expandable memory and an 8" color LCD on the top panel for easy navigation, the Lexmark X490 will be a good addition for an office.
