The Lexmark X84 is a personal printer that is specifically designed for those who print at home but don't need all the bells and whistles that come with some machines out on the market. Though it has been discontinued, potential buyers can easily find it new or used online.

Many personal users don't want a machine that needs a lot of maintenance. Because this one only uses two Lexmark X84 ink cartridges, buyers won't have to worry about that. One is a black printer ink, and the other is filled with color Lexmark X84 ink. The color lasts about 275 pages, while the black lasts 600 pages—that means they most likely won't need to be replaced too often. The only thing that may get annoying with a two tank system is that when one of the colors runs out in the color tank, the entire thing must be replaced.

When it is time for replacements, don't waste money—buy remanufactured Lexmark X84 ink cartridges from third party vendors. These will have the same 275 page yield and 600 page yield as the OEM printer ink, but cost only a fraction of the price. Remanufactured inkjet tanks are a great way to go.

When printing in black-and-white, the fastest speed available is only 12 pages per minute, while color prints come out at an even slower 6 pages per minute rate.
