Lexmark X5150 Printer Review
The Lexmark X5150 is a multifunction color inkjet printer designed for the home or small office user. Its compact size makes it a good fit for home use, but users could miss faxing capabilities. Print speed is quite fast, at up to 19 pages per minute for black and 14 pages per minute for color. Lexmark X5150 ink is reasonably affordable, and it doesn't cost too much for printer ink.
The unit has a very compact design, especially given its many features and functions. It measures 9.4 inches by 18.5 inches by 15.6 inches and weighs only 14.6 pounds, so it can be easily moved around the office. Lexmark X5150 ink cartridges are fairly affordable and in line with many competing models. Two Lexmark X5150 ink cartridges are included: a color cartridge and a black cartridge. A photo ink cartridge can be added for better photo printing, though it is not required.
The machine can print, copy and scan, but it lacks faxing capabilities. The average home user will probably not miss having a fax machine built in, but this may make it less suited for small office environments. Copying works quite well in standalone mode, without the need for a computer, but users who routinely copy or scan multiple pages at once may wish there were an automatic document feeder along with the unit's flatbed scanning surface. One strange thing to note is that the flatbed scanner is slanted forward, toward the user. This can make some materials difficult to copy or scan, as they might have a tendency to slide forward.
In a review of the multifunction inkjet, Cnet gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars and praised its speed and printer ink quality. They also liked its included software, and they found the software and the printer easy to use. They disliked the slanted scanner and lack of faxing.
Overall, the Lexmark X5150 is a solid multifunction machine at a great price. Its speed and print quality are impressive, and Lexmark X5150 ink costs won't break the bank.
