The Lexmark X3530 is a multifunction color inkjet printer designed for home users. It features print, scan, and copy functions in compact and very affordable machine. Maximum prints speeds are up to 22 pages per minute for black and 16 pages per minute for color, though printing at the higher quality settings will be much slower. Expensive Lexmark X3530 ink costs are a downside.

The machine has a maximum print resolution of 4800 by 1200 dpi for color, resulting in very sharp color prints. To get the best photo quality, users will have to purchase a photo Lexmark X3530 inkjet cartridge and swap it in and out when printing photos. There are also high-yield Lexmark X3530 ink cartridges available, which help to lower the cost of ink, but not as low as some competing models.

Along with its printing, scanning, and copying functions, the machine also includes some nice extras, such as memory card slots for connecting digital camera memory. There is also a USB port which supports PictBridge connections directly to a digital camera. Either option is a convenient way to get digital photos onto the computer or print them directly from the memory card or camera. Unfortunately, since the machine has only a 2-line monochrome LCD display, there is no way to preview or edit photos directly on the control panel.

In their review of the Lexmark X3530, Laptop Magazine praised its affordable price and its very compact design, saying it would make a good choice for tight spaces, such as dorm rooms. They disliked its photo printing quality, and even basic color quality, however, and mentioned that buyers could get better quality for only a little more money.

Overall, the Lexmark X3530 is a good, basic multifunction machine that has a solid design and good features, but competing models offer better speeds and quality for only a little more, and its expensive ink costs make its lower price less appealing.
