A printer, copier and scanner multifunction device, the Lexmark X2690 is designed for the home office user. It does not include a fax machine, but the street price is very reasonable in most cases, making it an attractive home office addition. The Lexmark X2690 ink cartridges are able to print up to 22 pages per minute for black and white and 16 pages per minute for color.

Paper cartridge capacity is 100 sheets. Dimensions are 17"w x 6.9"h x 12.3"d. Weight is 10.8lbs. Maximum rated duty cycle is 3000 impressions monthly. Lexmark X2690 ink cartridges support cyan, magenta, yellow and black printing. Supported media includes cards, banners, labels, envelopes, transparencies and plain and photo paper. Borderless prints are possible in many standard sizes. The Lexmark X2690 inkjet cartridges print at a maximum resolution 1200 dpi by 1200 dpi for black and white and 4800 by 1200 for color.

Connection is made by high speed USB. Compatible with PC and Mac, including Windows XP and Vista and Mac OS x10.4.4-10.5x. Comes with Productivity Studio and Lexmark Imaging Studio software.

Copying and printing do not require your computer, a feature that makes the X2690 a convenient stand alone device. One-touch copying means ease of use. The X2690 is also capable of two-sided printing. Many buyers are shocked to find that it doesn't come with a black ink cartridge. The color cartridge that comes with the Lexmark X2690 inkjet is only a "teaser" size. Most buyers find this an inconvenience.

The reasonable price that the X2690 sells for, and the three devices included, make this a deal. The missing cartridges and connection cable are absent features that most buyers have come to expect. This is an oversight by Lexmark. For quality photo printing along with the convenience of a copier and scanner, this is a good choice overall.
