The Lexmark X2300 is an all-in-one inkjet that takes the compact design and great printing features of the similar Z2300 model, but adds copying, faxing, and scanning features to make it the single solution for many home users. It has the same fast print speeds, rated up to 22 pages per minute (12 pages per minute for normal quality settings) and uses the same Lexmark X2300 ink as well, with helps reduce the cost of printer ink for both models.

Like many home machines, the X2300 has a design with a focus on being compact. The shape of the device is rectangular, with the output tray located in the lower front and the output tray located near the top rear. Both of these trays can be collapsed inward to reduce the footprint of the device when it is not in use, which will likely be a great benefit to home users who don't need their machine on a regular basis. The input tray can hold up to 100 sheets of paper at a time, and is very easy to load, so removing the paper to collapse the tray won't be an imposition.

The top cover opens upward to expose the glass platen for scanning, faxing, and copying. Each of these functions works well and is easy to use, with clearly marked buttons on the control panel for common functionality.

Printer ink is often the most expensive part of owning an inkjet model, and Lexmark X2300 ink cartridges are not exactly an exception. The Lexmark X2300 ink cartridges tend to be pricey, and their page yield of only 190 makes the cost per page high. Using compatible Lexmark X2300 ink is the only way to find relief, but it still doesn't make the device very cost-effective.

The Lexmark X2300 is an inexpensive all-in-one that offers all the features that users need, but with its very expensive running costs, its overall value is lessened.
