Lexmark T614 Printer Review
The Lexmark Optra T614 laser printer is toner based and designed for medium or large office environments. It has the speed and capacity to handle high-volume printing, and a number of expandability options to fit any need and budget.
The Lexmark T614 laser printer comes in three configurations. The T614 is the standard model, the T614N adds built-in networking capabilities, and the T614NL adds both networking and the ability to handle legal size paper. Beyond these differences in models, the unit can be configured even more specifically for different needs. Initial paper capacity is 600 sheets, but an additional 4,000 pages or more can be added, to fit the needs of a high-volume printing environment. Its 16 MB of memory can also be expanded, and even the models that do not include legal-size paper support or networking can have it added later as an upgrade. Users can also add a number of finishing options with add-ons.
The design of the unit is relatively compact, but the majority of users will probably add a few extra paper trays, which will contribute to the size of the unit. Despite its many paper processing options, there is no straight path printing option.
Lexmark T614 toner cartridges come in two sizes. Standard Lexmark Optra T614 toner cartridges have a capacity of 10,000 pages, but the more economical choice is the high-yield laser toner cartridge, with a capacity of 25,000 pages. Using the high-yield printer toner cartridge results in a much lower cost per page, even though the upfront cost is a bit higher.
Print quality is very good. Text is sharp and defined, with only the smallest fonts losing a bit of detail. Graphics quality is average, and quite usable.
Overall, the Lexmark T614 impresses by being one of the most versatile and expandable machines on the market. It can be configured to meet the needs of almost any office.
