Lexmark T610 Printer Review
The Lexmark Optra T610 laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. Its printing speeds are a little on the slow side, but its large paper and toner capacity low cost of consumables make it a very economical choice.
The Lexmark T610 laser printer is fairly compact in its design. The unit measures 15.7 inches by 19.6 inches by 14 inches (HWD), though it is a bit heavy at 43.5 pounds. The printer connects via parallel port, but an optional ethernet network upgrade is available, which comes pre-installed in the T610N model, and allows it to be connected and shared across a network of computers very easily. Additionally, users could opt to use a third-party print server or a host computer for sharing.
Paper capacity is large for its size and price, at 350 sheets. There is a 250 sheet main tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray for alternate media types. Even more impressive, the paper capacity can be expanded to a maximum of 3,350 sheets, allowing the unit to handle a very large number of users in a high-volume office environment. This expandability also makes it well-suited to an office expecting to grow.
Lexmark T610 toner cartridges come in two sizes. The standard laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 10,000 pages, while the high-yield printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 25,000 pages. Lexmark Optra T610 toner cartridges are very affordably-priced, especially when using third-party compatible toners, resulting in a very low cost of ownership.
Print speed is a little slow for the price, at 15 pages per minute, but still quite good. Text quality is sharp and dark. Graphics quality is a little below average, but still good enough for the office that only does occasional graphics printing.
Overall, the Lexmark Optra T610 is an impressive printer with a compact frame and enough expandability to suit almost any office size.
