While some of the more expensive models offer more features, the Lexmark MX310 is a very capable multifunction laser printer that provides the essentials for a very affordable price. Alternately referred to as the MX310DN, it includes both automatic duplexing and network support, and can print at speeds of up to 35 pages per minute.

The MX310 comes in a very compact design that will be a good fit for most small office environments, with dimensions of 18.4x15.7x18.6 inches. It isn't overly heavy either, at a weight of just 44 pounds without the Lexmark MX310 printer toner supply installed. The 2.4-inch LCD screen is not quite as impressive as the touchscreen displays of more expensive models, but it gets the job done, and is very simple to use.

Copying and scanning are both full-featured, and support the same fast speeds of up to 35 pages per minute. The automatic document feeder can hold up to 50 pages for quick scans and copies of multiple pages at a time, and a flatbed platen is available for irregular media such as books or stapled pages. While the standard paper capacity is 300 pages, it can be boosted to a maximum of 800 pages with upgrades.

Conserving Lexmark MX310 toner cartridge usage is easy with the Eco mode, which even has its own dedicated button, and duplexing can help to cut paper costs as well. With only a single Lexmark MX310 toner cartridge to replace, it is much more economical than color units, and multiple capacities of replacement toners are available, which helps buyers control their costs.

The MX310 provides many of the best features of more expensive machines in the Lexmark line, without the high prices. Buyers get fast speeds, extras like duplexing, and even affordable Lexmark MX310 toner, and they can even add upgrades in the future when needed.
