The Lexmark MS711 is a fast monochrome laser printer that can print up to 50 pages per minute, making it an excellent choice for busy office environments. It also has basic walk-up functionality and several optional upgrades, but it is hampered by expensive Lexmark MS711 printer toner supply costs that degrade its long-term value.

One of the highlighted features of the MS711 is its support for specialty media. The picking and handling system loads specialty media easily, avoiding some of the paper jam issues of its competition. The base model comes with a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, but the unit can be expanded to support up to 4,100 sheets total with optional upgrades.

In addition to the base model, the MS711dn adds the capability of automatic duplexing, so users can easily print on both sides of the page and save on paper costs. Users can connect the unit directly to a single PC with the included USB port, but most will probably connect it to an ethernet network for easy sharing among multiple office users. With a maximum monthly duty cycle of 250,000 pages, it can handle a lot of volume, which leaves a lot of room for expansion in the future.

Despite its many excellent features, the cost of toners is its biggest hurdle. Lexmark MS711 toner cartridges are some of the most expensive in its class, which will leave users paying a high cost per page. Even when using the larger Lexmark MS711 toner cartridge replacement that can output up to 45,000 pages, the cost per page is still high. Users also may have a hard time finding third-party Lexmark MS711 toner replacements.

The MS711 is an excellent laser printer let down by expensive supplies. Its speed and output quality are top notch, but it will just be too expensive for the average office budget to handle in the long run.
