The Lexmark MS710 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the busy small or medium-sized office, and it can output up to 50 pages per minute for very fast performance. With a lot of room for expansion, it is a good choice for the office expecting future growth, but high prices for Lexmark MS710 printer toner supplies will be a problem for buyers on a tight budget.

In addition to the base model, the MS710dn adds automatic duplexing as an upgraded feature. This allows for printing on both sides of the page, and can help reduce paper usage in the office. Both models feature a small 2.4-inch LCD on the front panel, with arrows for navigating menu options. A front-mounted USB port can accept flash memory for direct printing, but walk-up functionality is fairly limited.

Paper handling starts out with a 250-sheet input paper tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder for alternative media. It can be further expanded to a maximum of 4,100 sheets with the addition of several extra trays, and casters can be added for floor use instead of desktop setups. The first page can print in as little as 8 seconds, and an optional hard drive can be added for storing commonly used documents.

Replacing toners is unfortunately an expensive proposition. Even with two sizes available, replacement Lexmark MS710 toner cartridges are pricey. The standard Lexmark MS710 toner cartridge has an estimated yield of 6,000 pages, while the larger version can supply up to 45,000 pages.

The sharp output quality and fast speeds of the MS710 are very impressive, and its purchase price is reasonable. Its upgradeability is also a nice bit of future-proofing for growing offices, but the cost of Lexmark MS710 toner supplies makes it a poor value overall. Buyers can find similar models that are much more cost-effective over the long run.
