Lexmark IJ900 Printer Review
Let's say there is a small family in the Midwest with two young teenage kids and an older son in college. These kids have book reports and essays, and the college student prints daily because he is an English major. The budget is tight, and both the home and the dorm room are in need of a printer. There is no need for anything fancy, just a reliable machine that will be able to complete the tasks called upon by that day's homework and that month's syllabus. Perhaps this family should take a look at the Lexmark IJ900 inkjet printer.
Designed for simple, personal use, the IJ900 will be perfect in appeasing the needs of each member of that family. Not only that, but this unit will fit into virtually any budget. Two of these printers can be purchased for less than $200, which is hard to beat. Even though the output rate is not that fast, the quality is decent and the simplicity of the design prevents paper jams and lowers the cost per page.
Only two Lexmark IJ900 ink cartridges come with this device. One of these holds only black printer ink, while the other contains cyan, yellow and magenta. A downside to having three different colors of ink within one reservoir is when one color runs out, the entire printer ink tank must be replaced. Fortunately, remanufactured versions of the Lexmark IJ900 ink cartridges that cost less than half as much as the OEM versions are an option.
When printing with the black Lexmark IJ900 ink, approximately 2-3 pages can be printed per minute. When using the color inkjet tanks, it can take over 2 minutes to print a full page. These speeds are not good, but they are tolerable. A maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi can be obtained using the Lexmark IJ900 ink, which will be perfect for the family.
