The Lexmark CS510de color laser printer is a bit of a happy medium for buyers, sandwiched between the base model CS510 and the CS510dte with an extra paper tray, it should make a good fit for a small or medium office that doesn't yet require large printing volumes. It can print at up to 32 pages per minute, and features the same color touch screen and Lexmark CS510de printer toner as the other models, however, and can be upgraded for larger paper capacity at any time.

Despite its powerful performance, the CS510de is relatively compact, and works quite well on a desktop surface. It measures 17.2x17.4x16.4 inches, and weighs 55.3 pounds. The control panel is one of the machine's highlights, with a 4.3 inch color touch screen with a very clean and simple interface that is easy to use. The model includes a 250-sheet input paper tray that is well-suited for light use, but it can be upgraded to a maximum capacity of 1,450 sheets for larger office environments.

There is a USB port on the back for a connection to an individual computer, or a front-mounted USB port that can handle flash drives and other storage media. An ethernet port is provided for connecting to a network, and setting the machine up for sharing is quick and simple. It can provide output quality of up to 1200 dpi using black Lexmark CS510de toner, or an optimized 4800 dpi resolution in color.

The cost of toners is one of the drawbacks of the machine. The high-capacity version of Lexmark CS510de toner cartridges can provide up to 3,000 pages, but their high price makes the cost per page fairly pricey. The four Lexmark CS510de toner cartridges are easy to replace, at least.

Buyers can expect solid printing speeds, great color print quality, and networking that is easy to set up from the Lexmark CS510de. Unfortunately, high running costs make it expensive for high-volume use.
