The Lexmark C772 color laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. It prints at the same fast speed in both color and monochrome, and offers multiple configurations for different needs.
The design of the Lexmark C772 color laser printer is relatively compact, especially given its speed and paper capacity. It measures 23.8 inches by 18.5 inches by 20.8 inches, which is less tall than the Dell 3115cn toner printer, but the C772 is heavier, at 105 pounds. It won't fit into tight spaces, but it is not as bulky as some of its competition. Standard paper capacity is 600 sheets, divided among a 500-sheet main drawer and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, which make it easy to use two kinds of paper.
The unit comes in different configurations. The C772 is the base model, the C772n model adds networking, the C772dn model adds networking and automatic duplexing, and the C772dtn model adds all of the above, with extra paper capacity. Most users will want a model with networking at a minimum, as it makes it easy to connect and share across a network of users. Automatic duplexing will also save on paper costs, as it allows users to print on both sides of the page.
Lexmark C772 toner cartridges are more expensive than its competing units, such as HP CP3505 toner. Each color laser toner has a capacity of 10,000 pages, as does each black printer toner cartridge. The unit has a toner save mode, but unfortunately, its high toner costs make for a high cost of ownership.
Print speed is fast, with black and color print speeds both at 25 pages per minute, due to the single-pass color printing engine. Text is sharp and detailed, with readable text even at small font sizes. Graphics and photo quality is average.
Overall, the Lexmark C772 is an impressive machine with fast speeds and configuration options to meet many needs. High toner costs bring down its value, however.
