As the base model in its series, the Lanier SP 3500SF multifunction laser printer still includes the full complement of scanning, faxing, printing and copying. It can output up to 30 pages per minute, and has a detailed control panel for easy access to its many features. This makes it a good fit for either a home office or a small shared office environment.

With a glance at its compact footprint, buyers may be surprised at just how much the SP 3500SF is capable of. It measures just 18.1x16.5x15.6 inches, and it weighs 40.5 pounds, including the Lanier SP 3500SF printer toner supply. As the base model in its series, it has a smaller automatic document feeder than the similar SP 3510SF model, but it can still hold up to 35 sheets at a time.

The paper capacity is much roomier, with a standard 250-sheet main tray and a 50-sheet bypass tray to round it out. Users can add an additional 250-sheet tray is they decide they need the extra capacity. Networking is included, with an ethernet port for easy sharing among users, and several extras as well. A front USB port allows for direct printing from flash drives, and an ID Copy feature allows users to copy both sides of an ID quickly, without the extra paper and Lanier SP 3500SF toner that would normally be needed.

Toners are easy to replace, but the standard Lanier SP 3500SF toner cartridge has a relatively small capacity of only 2,500 pages, so it may need to be replaced often. A high-capacity Lanier SP 3500SF toner cartridge is available, however, which offers up to 6,400 pages, and is much better for busier offices.

While the upgraded model in its series offers a larger ADF, the Lanier SP 3500SF is likely to be all most home users and some small offices will need. Those who don't do a lot of scanning will find it to be an excellent value for the price.
