Lanier LF415 Printer Review
The Lanier LF415 functions best as a laser fax machine, even though it can handle light copying duties and has optional network printing features. It has somewhat slow scanning speeds of 1.3 seconds per page, but its G3 transmission speeds can send and receive a page in about 3 seconds. Lanier LF415 printer toner supplies are inexpensive, and its upgradeable paper capacity leaves room to grow.
In addition to the base model, the LF415e model is also available, which adds network printing features to the mix. An automatic document feeder on the top of the machine can hold up to 70 sheets at a time for fast scanning of originals, and a G3 modem can transmit and receive faxes at up to 33.6 Kbps. A second line can be added as an upgrade option for those who need a multi-line faxing solution.
The machine is fairly compact, measuring 16.2x17.6x21.7 inches, with a weight of 50.7 pounds that even includes the Lanier LF415 toner supply. The input paper trays include a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet bypass tray for alternative media types. Upgrading it with additional paper trays can bring the maximum input capacity to 1,350 sheets, equipping it for busier office workloads.
When the system runs out of paper or replacement toners are needed, the memory backup can store up to 560 pages. Replacement Lanier LF415 toner cartridges are affordably-priced, so users don't have to worry about busting the office budget. Best of all, with yields of around 6,000 pages each; Lanier LF415 toner cartridges have a very low cost per page.
Overall, the LF415 is best fit for offices with serious faxing needs. Its other functions aren't quite strong enough to keep up with true multifunction devices, so users with heavy printing or copying needs should probably look elsewhere.
